Ground and water have natural electrical currents that run through them on a regular basis. When metal is surrounded by earth or water, these currents create a problematic effect called electrolysis. Electrolysis has the ability to bore small holes into even very strong steel and other metal objects - like a propane tank. Underground tanks need protection from this deterioration, and a convenient and relatively low cost solution to this problem is anode bags. An anode bag is attached by a wire to an underground propane tank and buried along with the tank. The anode bag absorbs the dangerous electrical currents, guiding them away from your costly  tank and greatly prolonging its life.
